On November 22, 2024, the "7th China-Japan-South Korea Water Science Forum - Flood Simulation and Management 2024" was successfully held in Xi'an, Shaanxi. The forum was jointly initiated this year by Professor Hou, Jingming from Xi'an University of Technology, Associate Professor Feng, Youcan from Jilin University, and Professor Zhang, Hao from Kumamoto University. It invited experts in the fields of flood simulations and risk management to discuss the relevant scientific questions and the research updates.
The opening ceremony of the forum was chaired by Professor Hou Jingming, with Vice President He, Xinhong of Xi'an University of Technology delivering the welcome address. Vice President He expressed his heartfelt thanks to the hundreds of scientists and technologists from related fields who attended the forum. He introduced the construction and development of Xi'an University of Technology and the State Key Laboratory of Eco-Hydraulics in Northwest Arid Regions in recent years, and hoped that through this forum, a deep analysis of trends and directions in the field of flood simulation and management could be conducted, further promoting scientific and technological innovation in related fields. Subsequently, Associate Professor Feng, Youcan from Jilin University introduced the development history, organizational structure, and industry impact of the China-Japan-South Korea Water Science Forum, and Professor Hou, Jingming from Xi'an University of Technology presented recent research progress at the Water Simulation and Disaster Management Research Center.
